Gaia’s lands
Gaia is a primordial deity, referred to as “Mother Earth”. She is the ancestral mother of gods; she also gives birth to a lot of creatures.
She is one of the first deities, this goddess of Earth doesn’t look like Demeter because she is a goddess of wild and barren earth.
HER creatures
The Minotaur, whose name’s Asterion, was a creature with the head of a bull and the body of a man. He was dwelt at the center of the Labyrinth, which was a construction designed by Daedalus. The Minotaur was fed with human flesh and received regularly seven Athenian youths and seven maidens to be devoured by the Minotaur.
Companions of Dionysus, the satyrs were also seen with Rhea, Gaia, Hermes and Hephaistos. They are good for nothing, they keep on chasing nymphs and frightening the peasants. They are represented with goat-like legs, large pointed ears, horns and usually have a beard.
The cyclops are cannibalistic shepherds who could be identified by their huge and ugly form, their single eye, their wild way of life and their ferocity. The most famous of them is Polyphemus because Odysseus made him blind in his only eye.
The centaurs are wild creatures represented with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. Their weapons are rocks and branches of trees. Among the most famous one there are: Chiron, Pholus, Eurytion, Homados, Hylaeus and Rhoecus, Nessus, Krotos…
